In a remarkable display of financial prowess, Deepinder Goyal, the CEO of Zomato, has secured his place as Gurugram’s second-richest individual, according to the latest Hurun India Rich List 2024. Goyal’s wealth has soared to an impressive Rs 9,300 crore (approximately $1.1 billion), placing him among the elite group of 23 people in the city with a net worth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore.

Despite his substantial fortune, Goyal still trails behind the city’s richest resident, Nirmal Kumar Minda, the chairman and managing director of UNO Minda. Minda tops the list with a staggering net worth of Rs 30,800 crore (about $3.6 billion), securing his position as the wealthiest person in Gurugram and ranking 91st on the national wealth chart.

Goyal’s ascent to the second position highlights his significant achievements in the foodtech sector, further solidifying his influence in Gurugram’s economic landscape. His company, Zomato, has become a household name, contributing to his considerable wealth.

Following Goyal on the list are some notable entrepreneurs and business leaders. Ghazal and Varun Alagh, co-founders of Mamaearth, hold a combined net worth of Rs 5,900 crore. Jyoti Bhatia, a prominent figure in the aviation industry as a key player in IndiGo, boasts a net worth of Rs 4,500 crore. Ravinder Kumar of Gawar Construction is next with Rs 4,300 crore.

Other significant figures in Gurugram’s wealth landscape include Gaurav Bhatnagar of TBO TEK, with a net worth of Rs 3,800 crore, and Lalit Agarwal of V-Mart Retail, alongside Iskander A Lalljee of Sud Chemie India, both valued at Rs 3,300 crore. Daljit Singh of Amber Enterprises follows with Rs 2,900 crore, and Rakesh Malhotra & family from Luminous Power Technologies hold Rs 2,800 crore.

Additionally, Dharminder Nagar of Paras Healthcare and Mobikwik co-founders Bipin Preet Singh and Upasana Taku each have a net worth of Rs 2,400 crore. Urban Company co-founder Abhiraj Singh Bhal is worth Rs 2,200 crore, while Naresh Kumar & family of NKC Projects hold Rs 2,100 crore. Vijay Kumar Thadani of NIIT and Sumant Sinha from ReNew Power round out the list with net worths of Rs 1,600 crore each.

The Hurun India Rich List 2024 reflects a diverse range of industries contributing to Gurugram’s wealth, from tech and healthcare to retail and energy. Goyal’s remarkable rise underscores the dynamic nature of the city’s economic landscape and its growing prominence as a hub for affluent individuals.
