Why Flipkart Wholesale’s enlargement focuses only on fashion

B2B e-commerce targeted on electronics, kirana and style verticals has been collecting significant interest for the past 3 years. After Udaan, Flipkart and Amazon are ramping up their bets withinside the segment. While Amazon provides substances to 20,000 kirana stores, Flipkart these days delivered Flipkart Wholesale, its purchasing platform for mother and pop stores.

Launched in the final week of July, Flipkart Wholesale nowadays introduced the extension of its operations to twelve new towns which includes parts of NCR and Mumbai, Meerut and Chandigarh (tricity). As of now, the platform’s deliver might be restrained to style vertical only.

It might add categories along with home, kitchen and grocery by the cease of the year, a business enterprise statement said. The enlargement to those towns makes absolute feel for Flipkart as call for for apparels and add-ons will be all-time high in the imminent festive season throughout October and November.

“Expanding Flipkart Wholesale with fashion is a good call for Flipkart for two reasons: Firstly, it’s strong in fashion with multiple private labels under Myntra. Secondly, the sales will shoot up in the festive season,” said Satish Meena, senior forecast analyst at Forrester.

At present, Myntra has over 15 personal label brands which force 30% of its ordinary revenues. Flipkart Wholesale might push these manufacturers via small scale offline stores. This seems to be a very good method for the broader adoption of in-house brands.

“As a result, the fashion industry is sitting on a huge unsold inventory. This also includes Myntra’s private labels. Festive season is a good time to clear such inventories. I think this is the reason behind the expansion of Flipkart Wholesale with fashion only,” added Meena.
