“Microsoft Faces New Global Outage, Impacting 365 and Azure Services”

Microsoft is grappling with another global outage affecting its Microsoft 365 and Azure services. Users worldwide have reported performance issues and degraded service. The company has acknowledged the problem on its 365 Status account, noting, “We’re currently investigating access issues and performance degradation with multiple Microsoft 365 services. For details, refer to MO842351 in the admin center.”

To mitigate the impact, Microsoft has implemented temporary fixes and rerouted user requests. The company is actively monitoring the situation and advises users to check their status page for updates. Azure Support has also addressed the outage, stating, “We are investigating an issue impacting Azure Services and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Updates are available on our Status page.”

The current disruption follows a major outage on July 19, which was linked to a problematic update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. The previous outage, which disrupted global services including travel and market operations, was traced back to issues with CrowdStrike’s Falcon Sensor software affecting Microsoft’s Windows OS. The new outage has not been connected to any specific software yet but has impacted communication between applications, users, devices, and the internet.

On Tuesday, user reports of issues with Outlook and other Microsoft applications surged on DownDetector, indicating widespread problems. Microsoft has not yet identified a specific cause for the current disruption beyond the general network infrastructure issues highlighted in their service status alerts.

For ongoing updates, Microsoft directs users to their service status page and recommends checking the details of the incident under MO842351 in the admin center.
