Drone technology startup IG Drones has successfully raised $1 million in its first funding round, led by India Accelerator with contributions from various angel investors. This investment is just the beginning, as IG Drones aims to secure an additional $3 million within the next six months to broaden its reach in India and beyond.

Founded in 2018 by Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya and Om Prakash, IG Drones specializes in drone services for mapping, inspection, and surveying. They’ve tackled over 500 projects for clients ranging from the Indian Army to multiple state governments and more than 100 large corporations. Why They Need Funding

The startup plans to use this initial funding to boost its research and development (R&D) efforts. Specifically, they want to create cutting-edge drone solutions aimed at the defense sector by collaborating with international companies in aerospace and defense. CEO Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya emphasized their commitment to innovation and global expansion: “This funding will supercharge our R&D in drone technology and help us elevate the drone tech landscape in India, aligning with the government’s push for advanced technology.”

Introducing the Jaga Drone

One of IG Drones’ standout products is the AI-powered Jaga drone, recognized for its precision and advanced capabilities. They’ve also developed India’s first 5G drone, partnering with defense entities and leading businesses. Their agricultural innovation, the Kisaan drone, is helping farmers optimize their work with modern technology.

Educating the Next Generation

IG Drones is also committed to empowering India’s youth in drone technology through its Drone Centre of Excellence (CoE). They’ve partnered with prestigious institutes like IIT Bhubaneswar and IIM Sambalpur, training over 50,000 young individuals across the country. Last year, they unveiled India’s first homegrown military simulator in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Industry Impact

Ashish Bhatia, Founder & CEO of India Accelerator, praised IG Drones for pushing the boundaries of aerial technology: “Their tech-driven solutions are revolutionizing operations across various sectors, enhancing efficiency and scalability.” He expressed excitement about supporting their growth as they lead the charge in this fast-evolving industry.
