Chandigarh-based fashion startup Theater has raised $1.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Mumbai-based venture capital firm Prath Ventures. The round also saw participation from existing angel investors, reflecting strong confidence in the brand’s growth potential.
Founded in 2021 by Sarthak Aggarwal, Vikram Jain, Karan Jain, and Shruti Aggarwal, Theater specializes in women’s fashion, offering products such as footwear, stockings, perfumes, and bags. With product prices ranging from Rs 900 to Rs 4,000, Theater aims to provide mass-premium fashion that combines timeless design with high quality.
The startup plans to use the newly raised capital to expand its offline presence, which it considers vital for reaching a wider audience. Additionally, Theater will focus on accelerating its design iteration and production processes while exploring new sales channels, including quick commerce, to drive further growth.
Sarthak Aggarwal, CEO of Theater, stated, “Our mission is to transform the Indian fashion landscape through a design-centric approach.” The company aims to redefine the fashion experience with a focus on high-quality, stylish products.
Piyush Goenka, Managing Partner at Prath Ventures, shared his enthusiasm for the investment, noting, “The Indian consumption story is at its inflection point, and we believe there is a whitespace in categories such as Women’s Shoes and Perfumes. We are thrilled to partner with Sarthak, Vikram, Shruti, and Karan to build a category-defining lifestyle brand out of India.”
As Theater moves forward with its expansion plans, the funding is expected to bolster its efforts in reaching a broader customer base and establishing a stronger market presence in the competitive fashion industry.
